Who Wrote The Bible?
8. Moses wrote the Pentateuch
"And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord..." (Exodus 24:4)
"And Moses wrote their going out according to their journeys by the commandment of the Lord..." (Numbers 33:2)
No. Biblical scholars studying the linguistics of the first five books have known for two hundred years that these could not have had one author. Deuteronomy 34? Several of the links below discuss an Israeli Biblical scholar group that used a proven literature computer program to look at Isaiah, Ezekiel, and the Pentateuch. It identified at least two authors of the first five books. The Documentary Hypothesis is alive and well at top universities around the world.

9. There are no transitional fossils
There are scores of them. Check out 29+ Evidences for Macroevolution at talkorigins. Why do creationists continue to repeat this falsehood? The whale fossils are there to read about, as just one example.
By denying scientific principles, one may maintain any paradox.

10. Mitochondrial Eve and Y-chromosome Adam can be made to fit scriptures.
No. Mitchondrial Eve (mtEve) lived 150,000 years ago, Y-Ch Adam about 50,000 years ago and so they were 100,000 years apart - hardly anything close to being compatible with scriptures. Also, this is only looking at mtDNA and the Y-Chromosome DNA, and not all the nuclear DNA. When all the DNA is taken into account, the human species is derived from a population of 8,000 - 10,000. Biologos has a newer article posted about this and there is always Wikipedia to explain it.

11. Human evolution did not occur.
The evidence for it is overwhelming. We have many fossil hominin skeletons now. We have all this wonderful DNA data showing share common ancestry with other primates - human chromosome 2 fusion, shared mistakes in our DNA in the form of pseudogenes (vitamin C, psi-beta globin gene, etc. ), ERVs and transposons. And we have examples of humans born with complex tails.
No evidence is powerful enough to force acceptance of a conclusion that is emotionally distasteful ~ Theodosius Dobzhansky (famous evolutionary biologist and Christian).

12. Intercessory prayer is effective.
No. There have been numerous studies that show intercessory prayer does not work.

13. Scriptures are the Word of God and are inspired.
No. There are numerous additions and deletions. Sections have been changed. Many are forgeries. Many contain errors and contradictions. These books are the works of men and contain a mixture of history, mythology and legends. Most religous scholars outside of conservative seminaries but rather at prestigous universities around the world would never hold this position.

14. Homosexuality is immoral.
There appears to be a strong biological basis, especially for men. Many Christians hold that homosexuality is a choice. This is absolutely not true. One of the links below to another page on this site lists 17 good scientific studies and observations that argue otherwise. Some theists maintain that even if one is born homosexual, it is still a person's choice to act on their core being or not. This of course reveals that their only basis for their beliefs is a few verses from the Old Testament. Verses surrounded by other laws and edicts that conservative Abrahamic theists choose to ignore such as stonning disobedient children and adulterous persons. Verses that command the killiing of women on their honeymoon night if they are found not to be virgins, etc. Many secular people argue that the biological issue should not even be on the table. We should instead just treat people like the fellow human beings they are and grant them the rights and priveldges that heterosexual people enjoy. Period.

15. All Scritures are good for moral teaching
No. Scriptures contains some of the most cruel and immoral teachings found anywhere. It is only by selectively ignoring numerous narratives and commands that anyone can say the Bible should be followed in many of its principles. Some attempted explanations include that 1) it was better than the pagan culture around the Hebrews at the time and 2) it was meant to show them how corrupt they were. This is the best God could do? The laws and guidelines that He proposed must reflect His character. Some character profile - unless he was made in our image.
"The word of God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weakness, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still purely primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this... For me the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstition... In general I find it painful that you claim a privledged position and try to defend it by two walls of pride, an external one as a man and an internal one as a Jew. As a man you claim, so to speak, a dispensation from causality accepted, as a Jew of montheism. But a limited causality is no longer a causality at all, as our wonderful Spinoza recognized will all incision..." ~ Albert Einstein
